About Us
Who was Montessori?
Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was the first woman to ever receive a degree from an Italian University. She was a strong spirit, a physician, an anthropologist, a biologist, a psychologist, a peace activist, a philosopher and an educator.
What is Montessori?
Montessori is an educational approach developed through extensive observations of how children learn. Dr. Montessori believed in education involving all the senses and the use of self-correcting manipulatives. Montessori is to the child "the preparation for life."
Where are Montessori Schools?
Montessori schools are found worldwide. Here at Mother Lode Montessori our staff of caring professionals have created a nurturing environment, which provides each child a unique educational opportunity, a Montessori Experience. Our teachers are certified professionals. Our staff meets or exceeds state requirements qualifying them to work in the field of early childhood education. Our staff stays current with issues concerning early childhood by attending seminars, workshops, and conferences, in addition to holding membership in a related professional organization. Our staff possesses a love of learning and a respectful wonder of nature, which they pass on to the children. Mother Lode Montessori has been awarded the honor of accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)

Children in our Montessori classroom are free to discover according to their own interests and abilities and without fear of failure. "Never let a child risk failure until he has a reasonable chance of success." Teachers in our school provide gentle unobtrusive guidance and encouragement on the child's exciting educational journey. Every detail in our Montessori classroom is painstakingly prepared with your child in mind, promoting independence, order, and mutual respect.

When to begin Montessori?
The Montessori Method has been incorporated into a wide variety of schools and has proven successful in serving its students from infancy through adulthood. Mother Lode Montessori serves children from infancy through 6 years. Our facility is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Our program runs on a traditional school year schedule and our facility is open year round providing child care and summer programs for our families.
